Mackenzie passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013 as the result of an automobile accident. Mackenzie was born on March 5, 1994 in Irving, TX to Michael and Kimberly Burt Sayre.

Mackenzie had just completed her freshman year at Murray State University, where she was majoring in Pre-Veterinary Science. She graduated from West Jessamine High School in 2012. An athlete, Mackenzie excelled in cross country and track. Mackenzie loved hanging out with her friends and loved being a friend to others. Mackenzie was a member of Wilmore United Methodist Church, where she had been an active member of the youth group. It was no surprise to anyone that Mackenzie chose to study Veterinary Science in college because of her passion and love for animals of all kinds.

In addition to her parents, Mackenzie is survived by her sister Morgan Sayre (fianc- Scott Mink) of Lexington; maternal grandmother, Lolita Burt; paternal grandmother, Lillian Sayre; aunts and uncles, Andy (Beth) Burt, Cheryl Sayre Dye, Terry (Gary Baxter) Kuhlwein; cousins, Leah (Mark) Carpenter, Logan Burt, Matthew Garringer, Brandy (Mike) Anderson, Adam Kuhlwein, Bradley Ryan, and Nicholas Dye. She was preceded in death by maternal grandfather, Homer O. Burt and paternal grandfather, William Brooks Sayre.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of Mackenzie's love for her animals, her family has asked that donations be made to Jessamine County Animal Shelter in her memory.

We were blessed to have Mackenzie in our lives. She will always be remembered for her love of family and friends and that sweet smile of hers that lit up a room. Online guestbook at www.Bettsandwestfuneralhome.com
