Marion E. 'Shug' Stratton, 91, of Nicholasville, Ky. Passed away November 26, 2012. He was the widower of Steele Betts Stratton. He was the son of the late Mollie Evans and Charles H. Stratton. After serving in WWII, he founded Stratton Lumber Co in Nicholasville in 1945. He was a member of Nicholasville Baptist Church, founding member of the Jessamine Co. Industrial Foundation, Nicholasville Planning and Zoning Commission, Lone Oak Country Club and served on the board of the Jessamine Co. Building and Loan Association of Nicholasville. He was a past board member of the Kentucky Bank. After retiring in 1995, he was an avid photographer and historian of the area. He is survived by a daughter, Lee (William) Baker of Nicholasville. He has two grandchildren, Michael Stratton (Rachel) Baker, Downingtown, PA, and Penny (Gregory) Baker of Nicholasville. Five great-grandchildren, Aaron Stratton and Sydney E. Baker, Downingtown, PA, William E., Carson Steele, Harry R. Baker of Nicholasville. Visitation will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Betts and West Funeral Home in Nicholasville with services following at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
