Mary Belle Canter Montgomery

Mary Belle Canter Montgomery, 80, loving wife for 60 years of Harry G. Montgomery, of Little Hickman Road, died Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Royal Manor Nursing Home in Nicholasville. She was born in Jessamine County on October 28, 1931 the sixth child of Lee and Edith Beulah Green Canter. She was a Homemaker and Farmer and retired in November 2003 after operating Montgomery Grocery for 32 years. She was a Member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church. In addition to her husband she is survived by three children, Wayne (Melissa Waller) Montgomery and Glenn (Charlene Wilson ) Montgomery of Jessamine County and Virginia Montgomery (David) West of Nicholasville; eight grandchildren, Ronald Glenn Montgomery Jr., David Kelly (Meghann) West Jr., Justin Royse (Kerri) Montgomery, Ryan Keith (Lori) Montgomery, Alex Griffin West, Brandon Lee (Sandra) Montgomery, Kyle Wilson (Laura) Montgomery, and Mary Bethany West and five great grandchildren, Shelby Rae, Charles Daniel, Bailey Ann, Anna Claire and Harper Frances Montgomery, two sisters, Virginia (Vernon) Montgomery, Marjorie (Ray Walden) Carter, three sister in laws, Ida Ruth Canter, Faye Canter and Anna Jones Mullican, and two brothers in law, John (Mary) Nickell and Isaac (Leona) Montgomery, numerous nieces, nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Lee Canter, Mildred Vickers and Ruth Nickell and two brothers, A.G Canter and Edmond Canter. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Betts & West Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-9:00pm today. Bearers will be her eight grandchildren. Honorary bearers will be her long time friends from her store, Billy Teater, Doug Teater, Bobby Watts, Charles Hager and Gene Brooks.
