Nellie Mae Smith, age 101, went to be with the Lord on
Wednesday morning, February 18, 2015. She was preceded in
death by her husband, William B. Smith, and her parents, the
late William and Anna Strehle. She was also preceded in
death by two sisters, Louise Strehle and Edith McClelland and
one brother, William E. Strehle. She is survived by her
daughter, Annette S. McInnes (Earl) of Nicholasville, KY and
two sisters, Wilhelmena Drum and Rosanette Drum of
Circleville, Ohio. She is also survived by nineteen nieces and
nephews.
Nellie Smith was born in Franklin Furnace, Ohio and later
lived in severaLlocations in Ohio and Colorado. They have
lived in Kentucky for the past 34 years.
Nellie and her late husband, Bill, celebrated 74 years of
marriage, prior to his death in January, 2013. They were
active members of, the Wilmore Free Methodist Church for
over 30 years, and served with Gideon's International for over
25 years. Nellie served as a local Chaplain in that
organization and participated in Bible distributions and prison
visitation. She was formerly involved in a Christian musical
ministry with her father and sisters. For many years, she
taught Sunday School in the churches they attended.
The celebration of her life will be held on Monday, February
23, 2015, . at the Wilmore Free Methodist Church. Viewing
will be from 12: 00 noon to 2: 00 P. M. with the service at
2: 00 P. M. Burial will be at Reber Hill Cemetery near
Circleville, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be made to Wilmore Free Methodist Church or Gideons International.
