Norma Jean Harris, 83, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015, at the Rose Manor Nursing Home in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born in Short Creek, Alabama, on January 4, 1932, to Oron and Pearl Florence Johnston. In 1949, Norma Jean graduated from Hueytown High School, in Hueytown, Alabama, and she received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Montevallo in 1953. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Florida and in Hawaii. After a career change, Norma Jean worked as a legal secretary in Honolulu, Hawaii. She enjoyed reading, good food, and travel. Norma Jean was predeceased by her husband, Murfee Malcolm Harris; by her brothers Carl Johnston, Allen Johnston, Ted Johnston, and Terry Johnston; and by her sister Nettie Faye Johnston. She is survived by her two children, Twila Yvonne Masison and John Mark Harris, and John's wife Pam; by her four grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Benjamin, and Rachel; and by her brothers Jimmy Johnston and Ned Johnston and sisters Joan Hooper and Dianne Sharit.
