O. Glendon Sanders

September 11, 1928 — September 18, 2012

O. Glendon Sanders, 84, husband of Mary Leslie Shearer Sanders for fifty four years, died Tuesday, September 18, 2012. He was born September 11, 1928 in Harrodsburg, KY to the late Judge Oscar Benjamin and Bertner Reed Sanders. He was employed as an environmentalist with the Jessamine County Health Department for thirty three years. Glendon graduated from Harrodsburg High School where he held All-State Honors in basketball. He was a member of Nicholasville Baptist Church and enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting and fishing. His hobbies were golfing, woodworking and all sports, especially UK Basketball. He served in the National Guard for twenty two years. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Susan (Mark) Weden of Huntsville, Alabama and Laura Sanders of Lexington. He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters, Byford, Marion and Kenneth Sanders, Brunell Young and Eloise Seltsam. Services will be 1:00pm Saturday at the Nicholasville Christian Church with Rev. Jeff Mandrell officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 4-8pm at Betts & West Funeral Home. Serving as Casket Bearers will be Reed Sanders, David Sanders, John David Sanders, Roy Sanders, Steve Thomas, Jerry and Marion Sanders. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Delmar and Theron Owens.
