Philip Edward Peterson

November 4, 1926 — January 9, 2019

Philip Edward Peterson heard the words, “Well done, My good and faithful servant, in whom I am well pleased,” when he entered Heaven’s Gates on Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at the age of 92 years old.

Philip was born to Carlton & Ruby Peterson on November 4, 1926, in Greenport, Long Island, New York. Prior to completing high school, Phil served in the Army during WWII, then completed high school at Bob Jones University, Greenville, South Carolina. He then attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, where he met his wife, Carol Joan Gabler. They were married September 19, 1952.

Phil was an Ordained Minister and accepted by Baptist Mid-Missions in November of 1952. Phil and Carol served in many locations over the years including: Kentucky, Iowa, Nebraska, Hawaii, Canada and Alaska. Their last home and church was at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Nicholasville, Kentucky. They started and ended their lives together in Kentucky.

Throughout his entire life, Phil had an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those around him, as well as his latest jokes. He preached, taught Sunday School, and lead Bible Studies. He wanted every life he touched to know the love of his Heavenly Father.

Phil joins his wife, Carol Joan (Gabler) Peterson; brothers Kenneth & Reginald Peterson; brothers-in-law, Russell & Joseph Gabler, and James Borchardt, in Heaven.

Phil will be greatly missed by his children David Peterson, Cheri (Tom) Manternach, his grandchildren, Chris Peterson, Sara (Neil) Ferguson, Bob Peterson, Angela Link, Amy Link, David (Brittney) Manternach and Alicia Manternach, and many great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces & nephews, and many friends.

Funeral Services will be conducted at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Nicholasville, Kentucky, on Monday, January 14. 2019 with Pastor Tommy Morrow and Pastor Dan Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Sunday, at Betts & West Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church Building Fund in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
