Raymond L. Reed Sr., 75, husband of Mary Ellen Phillips Reed, lost his battle with cancer on Monday at his home in Danville. He was born October 21, 1936 in Nicholasville to William and Ella Reed. Additional survivors include a son, Raymond Lee Reed, a daughter Rose Ella Catlin, both of Danville, three step children, LaDonna Hacker, Jodi Jones and Lisa Hill, several grandchildren, step grandchildren, a sister, Anna Catherine Isaac, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, James William Reed, a sister, Mary Ruth Smith, two brothers, Charles and James Reed. Raymond served his country during the Vietnam Era, having retired as Chief with the United States Navy. After his military service he began a career with the Danville Police Department until her retired. He was a member of the Buell-Brag Post No. 3634 of Veterans of Foreign Wars as well as Post 18 Honor Guard who will serve as his bearers and Post 46 of the Boyle American Legion. He was a twenty five year brethren with the Masonic Bodies of Danville. Services will be 11:00am Friday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Bro. Raymond Isaacs and Bro. Roger Stephens officiating.
