Richard Lynn Ragland

July 16, 1969 — February 28, 2024

Richard Lynn Ragland went to meet Jesus face-to-face on February 28, 2024. Rick had fought and beat cancer, but with only a few months of remission, learned it had returned and metastasized. He passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family and friends: the ones who loved him the most.

Rick leaves behind his wife Mindy, son Noah, and daughter Kaylyn. Along with his in-laws, Bob and Patsy Fields, brother-in-law Brian (Abbey) Fields, and a friend that was closer than a brother, Anthony Brown, plus many more amazing friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Porter C. Ragland, and leaves behind his adoptive mother, Kay Ragland, and sister, Julie Brumfield, and niece, Emily Turner.

He loved Jesus and his church, Christ Embassy, where he was an active member for ten years. He was a Deacon and an Armor Bearer and attended faithfully throughout his treatments and battle with cancer. He loved to serve and be an extension of Jesus’ hands and feet here on earth.

Rick also loved UK and all sports. He and Kaylyn watched the UK Basketball games as they cheered, coached, and yelled at the TV together. Most of his clothes were UK attire. He also assisted in coaching both Noah and Kaylyn in baseball and softball here in Jessamine County.

Rick had a great personality and was hilarious. He could always make you laugh and smile. If it wasn’t one of his off-the-wall comments, it was his dancing and singing. He filled every room he was in with laughter and joy.

Although he will forever be missed on earth, he is now walking the streets of gold, healed and cancer free. To celebrate his life and legacy, the funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday at Christ Embassy Church in Nicholasville with Apostle/Pastor Johnathan Stidham and Pastor Ronnie Mounts officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery. Bearers will be Anthony Brown, Jeremy Milby, Justin Durham, Brandon Sargent, Donald Clay, Joshua Graves, and Trey Ferguson. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
