Robert Lee "Bob" Oakley

Robert Lee 'Bob' Oakley, 80, companion of Sharon Kay Stith for 26 years, died Friday, June 26, 2015. He was born May 13, 1935 in Bath County to the late Walter Harper and Lillie Ines Tapp Oakley. Bob was a member of CPAAA and Coon Hunters Club. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, UK basketball, working and staying busy. Family survivors are a daughter, Erin Louise Oakley, step daughter, Jodi Elaine Thomas, three grandchildren, Anna Elizabeth Oakley, Johnnie Lee (Cathy) Oakley and Mason Oakley, two great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Kaleb Oakley, four siblings, Zelma (Lee) Hatcher, Betty (Sterle) Hampton, Russell Oakley and Gene (Linda) Oakley and other family members. He was also preceded in death by a son, Johnny Lee Oakley and five brothers and two sisters. Service will be 2:30 PM Tuesday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Stith officiating. Burial will follow in Wilmore Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Bearers will be Russ Myers, Doodle Peel, Roy Lamb, Rick Walling, Elmer Moore and Antonio Slaughter. Honorary Bearers will be Billy Teater, Arzie Byrd, Barry Waldrop, Kevin Corman, Jimmy Hicks, Tom Conway, Larry Richardson, Robbie Laye and Doug Downing.
