Nicholasville-Roland Rice Burton, 81, husband of Pauline Carson Burton, died March 23, 2014,peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was a lifelong member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church, the VFW and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He received his high school diploma from East Jessamine High School through a program designed for veterans who left school early to serve their country. Roland was a former employee of Suburban Propane and former operator of the CHEVRON station on Main Street. He was the son of the late Virgil and Elizabeth Johns Burton. Additional survivors include two children and their spouses, Linda and John Blakeman, Gregory A. and Genevieve Burton, four grandchildren, Michelle Goddard and her husband Mark, Melissa Blakeman, Christopher and Lance Burton, three great grandchildren, Siren Burton, Emily and Matthew Goddard, a brother, Virgil 'Poochie' Burton and his wife Kathleen and a sister, Evelyn Locker. Services will be 11:00am Thursday at Betts & West Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8pm Wednesday. Bearers will be Rodney Burton, Glen and Kevin McDonald, Christopher and Lance Burton and Billy Carson. Honorary bearers will be Tommy Burton, Julian 'Goody' Short, Barry Peel and member of Mt.
