Rose Evelyn Kates Houp

Rose Evelyn Kates Houp, 62, wife of Enes Houp, died Friday, December 12, 2008. Rose was born September 15, 1946 in Berea to the late Henry and Clemon Christian Johnson Kates. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Jesus Christ. Additional survivors are two daughters, Lisa Houp and Debbie Gill, one son, Junior Houp, a grandchild, Scotty Houp, all of Nicholasville, a sister, Mertie Saldon of Berea, two brothers, Ernest Kates of Berea and Lester Kates of Somerset and other family members and friends. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Kates and a brother Clayton Kates. Services will be 1:00 pm Monday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Bro Pete Rowe officiating. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11:00 am until time of service. Bearers will be Junior Houp, Darby Gill, Raymond Miles, Johnny Sharp, Mark Rowe and other family members and friends. Honorary bearers will be Byrd Rowe and other family members and friends.
