Roy Lee “Butch” Hager Jr, 76, of Nicholasville, husband of Brenda Stotts Hager, died on Friday, April 11, 2025, in Lexington KY. He was born in Versailles, Kentucky, on December 3, 1948, to the late Roy Lee and Louise Raider Hager. Butch was a retired Farmer, co-owner of Hager’s Grocery from 1968-1998, and a United States Navy Veteran. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Brenda Stotts Hager, daughters Carmon Hager (David) Poor, and Lauralee Hager (Nelson) Bottoms, sister Patsy Trisler, he was the Best AHAH to his grandchildren Savannah Poor (Lucas) Monroe, Sydney Poor, Rylee Hager, great-granddaughter, Laney Dale Monroe, and a great-grandson due in September 2025.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Marty Vince Hager, and a brother-in-law, Bruce Trisler. Butch was an avid tractor/truck puller, he enjoyed watching his granddaughters barrel race, and enjoyed working on the farm, raising cattle, feeding his horses, baling hay and weed eating. He enjoyed living the simple life and took pride in his family, farm, and animals.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 17, from 3:00 – 8:00 PM, and the funeral the following day at noon on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Betts and West Funeral Home, with Pastor Marc Monroe officiating. Burial to follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Poor, Lucas Monroe, Nelson Bottoms, Michael Masterson, Jamie Ballard, and Quentin Knifley. Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Wayne, Wesley Corman, Shane Cline, Brad Walbert, and Billy Hatzman.
