Ruth Ann Goldey, 83, of Briarwood Drive in Nicholasville, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2022, at her home. Ruth was born in Jessamine County on January 15, 1939, to the late Shelby Jefferson Goldey and Allie Imogene Stephens Goldey. She was an Operator and managed the switchboard for GTE for many years, and was also a member of the Pinkard Baptist Church. She is survived by a special nephew, Tony Schmidt (Angela); special niece, Tomi Schmidt; great-nieces, Ashton, Emree, Camryn, and Lyndsay Schmidt; great-great-niece, Lilly Sullivan; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. She is preceded by brothers, William, Frank, Jim, Gene, George, Joe Thomas, and John Goldey; and sisters, Carrie Riley and Geneva Schmidt. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 25, at Betts & West Funeral Home, with Pastor Steve Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Bearers will be Gerrard Goldey, Gary Goldey, George Merrian Goldey, David Goldey, Lawrence Riley, and Billy Pat Riley. Honorary Bearers will be Paul Goldey, John Francis, Patricia Crutchfield, Angela Brown, Carol Williams, Cheryl Critz, Larry Goldey, Bill Goldey, Mike Goldey, Brenda Kestel, Teresa Scott, Danny Goldey, Jeff Goldey, Donna Goldey, Tim Goldey, Isabell Wobbekind, Carolyn Woodward and Jackie Carter. Visitation will be the evening prior, from 5:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Betts & West is honored to serve the Goldey family in their time of need.
