Ruth Bate Middleton Durman, 86, passed away Sunday, February 3, 2008. Ruth was born February 3, 1922 in Jessamine County to the late Elijah and Mattie Quincy Scott Middleton. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Joe Durman of Frankfort, Henry Floyd Bates of Frankfort and Nelson Farley of Lexington and her youngest son, James Nelson Bates. Survivors are a son, Virgil Ray Bates, Riverside CA, step daughter, Mary Jo Durman, Panama City, FL, sister Sara Miller, brother, Dave Middleton, both of Nicholasville, four grandchildren, Tammy Bates Parker, Grand Terrace, CA, Daryl Bates, Laguna Beach, CA, James Bates and Melissa Pike, both of Frankfort, four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Mrs. Durman was a Methodist and member of Roberts Chapel United Methodist Church, Nicholasville, Eastern Star Hiram Chapter 93 in Frankfort where she held numerous positions of office. Mrs. Durman was employed in various occupations within the Lexington, Frankfort area and retired in 1984 as a bookkeeper with Blue Bonnet Markets. Services will be 11:00 AM Friday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Sewell Woodward officiating and burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday with an Easter Star Service at 7:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Bearers will be Dave Deaton, Davy and Gary Middleton, Rusty Bowles, Jimmy and Robert Miller. Honorary bearers will be Daryl and James Bates, Kevin and John Deaton, Bo Middleton, Michael Pike and E.J.
