Sandra 'Sandy' Ann Thornton Madison, 62, widow of James 'Tex' Madison, died Friday, July 27, 2012. She was born September 28, 1949 in Jessamine County to Betty Lou Rutherford Thornton and the late James 'Tommy' Thornton. Also surviving are two children, Cynthia (Mark) Sheldon and Jennifer (Brian) Burkhart, five grandchildren, Kelsie (Adam) Prince, Savannah Burkhart, Catherine Sauer, Rebecca and Joshua Sheldon, soon to be great grandchild, Jase Prince, a brother, Donald A. (Carol) Thornton four step children, Kathy (Tommy) Cobb, Monti (John) Kanatzar, Michael (Ashley) Madison, Harold (Cathy) Barlow, eight step grandchildren, Grant and Jared Cobb, Adam and Casey Barlow, Jake Tyler and Calvin Embry, Ali Kanatzar and Skylar Hamilton, a special friend, Jimmy Bowman and other family members. Sandy was also preceded in death by her brother, Mike Thornton. Sandy was a member of Providence Christian Church and past member of the Jessamine County Recreation Board. Services will be 1:30 pm Wednesday at Providence Christian Church with Rev. Carol L. Devine, Rev. Mark Sheldon and Dr. Bob Madison officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 until 9:00 pm at the church. Bearers will be SSG Donald Thornton Jr., Barry Brown, Todd Wells, Bryan Roberts, Grant and Jared Cobb.
