Shelby Jean Amburgey, age 86, of Nicholasville, peacefully entered heaven on January 5, 2025. She was born in Hindman, KY, the second child of George and Marie Hayes. Shelby’s favorite activity was spending time with her family. She retired from Kroger in Nicholasville after 20 years of service. Shelby and Larry spent Kentucky winters in Vero Beach, Florida for 17 years where they surrounded themselves by many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Larry Amburgey, her parents and three siblings, Dorothy Morris, Erma Adams, and Granby Hayes, and son-in-law, Mark Evans. Shelby is survived by her children, Samuel Amburgey (Kathy) of Frankfort, Valerie Evans of Nicholasville, Angelia Talbott (Mike) of Springfield, her five grandsons, Christopher Amburgey (Kristina) of Georgetown, Seth Walling (Alecia) of Lawrenceburg, Masen Evans of Nicholasville, John-Tyler Walling (Chelsea) of Lawrenceburg, and Kalen Evans (Bethany) of Lexington. She is also survived by five great-granddaughters, Kamryn and Emerson Amburgey, Evelyn and Olivia Walling, and Harper Evans, her very special niece and caregiver, Tammy Adams, and her long-time friend and brother-in-law, Stan Adams. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at Betts & West Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery, where pallbearers will be Samuel Amburgey, Christopher Amburgey, Seth Walling, Masen Evans, John-Tyler Walling, and Kalen Evans.
