Singleton 'Garry' Simpson, 66, beloved husband of Virginia Johns Simpson, dear father to Jeremy Shea Simpson and Jonathan Keene Simpson, loyal and true friend to many, died Saturday in Nicholasville. Son of Robert Flournoy Simpson, Jr., and Cornelia Jane Yeary Simpson, Mr. Simpson was a lifelong resident of Jessamine County, graduating from Jessamine County High School in 1967. A successful business owner, farmer, and angus cattle breeder, Mr. Simpson was as skilled at growing Silver Queen as he was at fixing a tractor or building a home. His keen wit and spirit endeared him to many. In addition to his wife and sons, he is survived by a brother, Robert Flournoy Simpson III, of Hickman, Kentucky, and two sisters, Alta Simpson Marshall and Sue Simpson Mims, both of Lexington. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George Taylor Simpson. Visitation is Sunday, 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Betts and West Funeral Home, Nicholasville. Service of remembrance and celebration Monday, 1:00 p.m., also at Betts and West, Rev. Pamela C. Rucker, officiating. Interment at Maple Grove Cemetery, Nicholasville.
