Nicholasville-Sondra Gayle Carpenter, 69, wife of 52 years to Monte Ray Carpenter, of Brumfield Lane, died Sunday May 9, 2010 at her home. She was a co-owner and operator of Carpenters Dish Barn and a member of the Little Hickman Christian Church. She was a native of Jessamine County, born March 11, 1941 to the late Herman Lee Short and Margaret Hager Short. Additional survivors include three children, Danny Carpenter and his wife, Lycia Bottoms Carpenter, Teresa Floyd and her husband, Paul Floyd, Tina Carpenter and her husband, Glenn Miller, seven grandchildren, Travis Carpenter and his wife Hannah, Monica Sallee and her husband Troy, Eric Carpenter, Kristina Carpenter Miller, Gem Miller, Jonathan and Jason Floyd, one great grandchild, Abigail Carpenter, a brother, Julian -Goody- Short and his wife Patsy. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Gene Short. Services will be 10:00am Wednesday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Bales officiating. Burial in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1-8pm today. Bearers will be Jonathan and Jason Floyd. Travis and Eric Carpenter, Mark Short and Lynn Peel. Honorary bearers will be, Monica Sallee, Kristina and Gem Miller, James, Barry and Bob Humphrey. Donations are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass.
