Thera Faye Canter, 84, widow of Edmond Horace Canter, Lexington, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Fountain Circle Rehabilitation in Winchester, Kentucky. Faye was born in Jessamine County on August 15, 1939, to the late Ira Bruner and Lotella Taylor Bruner. She worked as a sales associate at McAlpins for many years and was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. She is survived by her sons, Eric Canter (Libby), and John Canter (Cindy); brother, Bunie “B.C.” Bruner (Sandy); grandchildren, Katie Barnes (Brandon), Amy Peterson (Ryan), Matthew Wade East, Laura Canter, Michael Canter (Hope), and Jenna Canter; as well as great-grandchildren, Riley Kate Barnes, Camden Peterson, Weston Peterson, and Curtis East. In addition to her husband, Edmond, Faye is preceded in death by sons, Gary Keith Canter, and Marvin Daniel Canter (Teresa, surviving); daughter, Karen Faye East; brothers, Ira Bruner Jr. (Rosemary, surviving), and Bobby Bryant (Patty, surviving); sister, Dorothy Teater; and grandchildren, Will Canter, and Alex Keith East. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 5, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Baltzer officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, where bearers will be Michael Canter, Ryan Peterson, Brandon Barnes, Dale Teater, Doug Teater, and J. C. Bruner. Honorary bearers will be the rest of her nephews. Visitation will be held the evening prior, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, at the funeral home.
