Nicholasville-Travis Smithers, 91,widower of Alice Ann Smithers, of Pin Oak Drive, died Tuesday, July 12, 201. He was the co-owner and operator of Springs Service Center on Harrodsburg Road for many years. Mr. Smithers served in the U.S. Army in WWII, receiving the American Theater Ribbon, the American Defense Service Medal with the Bronze Star and a Good Conduct Ribbon. Survivors include two daughters, Deborrah L. Hogue and Deidrah G. (Michael) Brady, three grandchildren, Jennifer (Anthony) Powers, Hannah and Emma Brady, two great grandchildren, Gavin and Noah Powers. He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Grace Powers, four brothers and two sisters. Services will be 1:30pm Friday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Dale Hunt-Minister of the Crab Orchard Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery.
