Vernon Rice 'Buddy' Teater, 82, widower of Dorothy Marie Bruner Teater, died Sunday, October 13, 2013. He was born June 29, 1931 in Jessamine County to the late Walter and Gladys Roberts Teater. Buddy was a lifelong farmer, was retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company and Bluegrass Stockyards,was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church where he was a song leader and Sunday School teacher, he was a board member of Jessamine County Soil Conservation and Farm Bureau, a member of the Methodist Men and Jessamine County Beef Cattle Association, was a Seargent in the U. S. Army during the Korean War where he received his High School Diploma. Survivors are three children Vernon Dale (Jane Lynn) Teater, Douglas Alan (Debra) Teater, Lisa Marie Teater, grandchildren, Jeremy (Arin) Teater, Janie (John) Foutch, Adam Douglas (Heather) Teater, Joshua Brice (Amanda) Teater, Sarah Lotella Teater(Mark Mitchell), Danielle (Kyle) Adams, Candace (Quentin) Turner, great grandchildren, Charlie, Lizzy, Kinsley, Colton, and Anna Teater, Jaelynn Foutch and Paisley Turner. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Rue and son in law Danny Raines. Services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Betts & West Funeral Home with Rev. Zach Fitzpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 9:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Bearers will be Charlie Hager, Lee Dale Stinnett, Charles Teater, James 'Bub' Vickers, Billy Teater, Wayne East, B.C. Bruner, Ira Bruner Jr. Honorary bearers will be his grandchildren and Wayne, Donnie and David Rue and Linda West. Special thanks to his niece, Kim Bruner McLellan for her special care.
