William “W.J.” Jake Curtsinger, 89, widow of Betty Curtsinger, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at Lexington Country Place. He was born on March 14, 1932 in Mercer County, Kentucky to the late Claude Curtsinger and Sally Snyder Curtsinger. W.J. was a deacon emeritus at Nicholasville Christian Church, he retired from Texas Instruments, as a master tool and die maker. W.J. rebuilt player pianos and pump organs for many years, often with his best friend, Phil Lester. He enjoyed golf, UK sports and was a member of the Kentucky National Guard. He is survived by a loving daughter, Kim Curtsinger, and his best buddy “Casey” and other family members. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years Betty Curtsinger who he lovingly cared for during her terminal illness, two brothers, Harlet Curtsinger and Cecil Curtsinger and two sisters, Oneida Curd and Shirley Locker. Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Betts & West Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Expressions of Sympathy are suggested to Bluegrass Care Navigators at 1733 Harrodsburg Road Lexington, Kentucky 40504.
