William Joe "D.J." Deering

William Joe 'D.J.' Deering, 77, husband of Mary Robinson Deering, died June 23, 2014. He was born March 20, 1937 to the late William Albert Deering and Alverta P. Snowden Deering. D.J. was a member of Bethel Christian Church, a retired officer with the Nicholasville Police Department, a U. S. Air Force Veteran, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. , F.O.P., a retired Sgt. of Nicholasville Police Dept., Volunteer Fire Fighter of Nicholasville Fire Dept. and Jessamine County Fire Dept. , 8 years a Deputy Coroner for Jessamine Co., 5 years as Chief of Jessamine Co. Rescue and Recovery Squad. He was a designer draftsman for 20 years, served in the Air Force from 1955 to 1963 and was a distinguished artist. Family survivors are a daughter Alverta 'Lee Lee' (David) Carson, three sons, Thomas L. (Felicia) Deering, Daniel D. (Stephanie) Deering, David W. (Karen Berry) Deering, ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and other family members. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Lee and Don Ramone Deering. Memorial service will be 1:00 pm Friday at Bethel Christian Church with Pastor Bill Bales officiating. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
